I previously reported the new construction activity in Miami Springs on September 19, 2016. There were 13 homes being constructed at the time.
Now I want to inform you that during last fiscal year (Oct 1, 2015 thru Sept. 30, 2016) the City was quite busy issuing building permits for various type of home improvements or additions. During this time the City issued 46 permits for residential projects, with a valuation of over $1.5 million dollars.
There were 7 permits issued with a valuation of approximately $550,000 for commercial projects.
Permit activity is one of many economic indicators economists use to gauge the health of the economy. I will report early next year to see what kind of activity we had during this first quarter (Oct 1, 2016-Dec 31,2016) of this new fiscal year.
